7/6/2023 0 Comments Yolk the book![]() So I took Permanent Record home and promptly forgot about it. ![]() ![]() I loved her honesty, her wit and the level of fandom she had from the other attendees. Her previous book, Permanent Record, had just been published and I made sure to purchase a signed copy before leaving the event. Honestly, I went to this event to see Jenna because I'm a HUGE fan of hers but by the time I left, I was also in love with Mary. I remember back in the pre-Covid days going to an author event featuring Mary H.K. Another part of me wonders if she’s secretly Republican. ![]() Part of me is proud that she gets to have all this-knowing that we come from the same place and that she’s earned it. Sort of how some people’s news is the opposite of yours or how their phone configurations are alien if the icons are the same. I never get to be this high up, and it’s wild how June’s New York has nothing to do with mine. ![]()

The gray-green surface changes to the bright colors of our three images, sharpening and deepening all at once. Sure, each square is added individually, but they all hold together to create a general impression. What do we mean by that? Well, one way to think of the stories that make up this book, and of the eight different storytellers that tell them, is different squares on a quilt. Instead, the novel is about rendering the experience of a community of people, which is best accomplished through Tan's writing-as-tapestry approach. But that's one of the beautiful things about this book: it's not going to give you a single story that marches in straightforward fashion from A to Z. ![]() ![]() If you're really into books that start "Once upon a time," and the go step by step through the plot, The Joy Luck Club is probably not your cup of tea.Īmy Tan's writing style can feel disjointed, disorganized, and even a little hectic. ![]() 7/5/2023 0 Comments The lean startup audio book![]() It enables a company to shift directions with agility, altering plans inch by inch, minute by minute. ![]() Inspired by lessons from lean manufacturing, it relies on “validated learning”, rapid scientific experimentation, as well as a number of counter-intuitive practices that shorten product-development cycles, measure actual progress without resorting to vanity metrics, and learn what customers really want. Add to that, THE FIFTH WITNESS is a Mickey Haller book and I do love the character of Mickey Haller (especially now that I can imagine that he looks like Matthew McConaughey.) And finally, I just thought this book was so good. ![]() I'm going to have to warn you - this review of THE FIFTH WITNESS by Michael Connelly is going to be a major love fest! I am a huge fan of Michael Connelly's and pretty much consider him to be one of my all-time favorite authors. Connelly proves again why he "may very well be the best novelist working in the United States today" ( San Francisco Chronicle). Soon after he learns that the victim had black market dealings of his own, Haller is assaulted, too-and he's certain he's on the right trail.ĭespite the danger and uncertainty, Haller mounts the best defense of his career in a trial where the last surprise comes after the verdict is in. Mickey puts his team into high gear to exonerate Lisa Trammel, even though the evidence and his own suspicions tell him his client is guilty. He expands his business into foreclosure defense, only to see one of his clients accused of killing the banker she blames for trying to take away her home. Summary: Mickey Haller has fallen on tough times. ![]() 7/5/2023 0 Comments Book the happy hooker![]() ![]() "synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title.īook Description Paperback.
